“For a family outing, check out Laguna’s Adventure Park and Beach Bar + Grill. The ropes courses, zip rails, and go-karts offer activities for children who meet the participation requirements, while adults can enjoy food and drinks at the bar and grill. A large outdoor screen, football game days, movie nights, and live music add to the entertainment. Check the current activity requirements and entertainment schedule before visiting.”

“For dining, my recommendations include The Reef, Flounder’s and Peg Leg Pete’s. For families, Flounder’s and Peg Leg Pete’s both have outdoor play areas for children. If you’re heading to Peg Leg Pete’s, check its Yelp listing for the option to join the waitlist before you arrive—it may help you spend less time waiting outside.”

“For an outing rich in history, explore Fort Pickens at the western end of Santa Rosa Island, part of Gulf Islands National Seashore. Explore the historic brick fort used during the Civil War and the later concrete coastal-defense batteries, including defenses used during World War II. Learn about the Chiricahua Apache prisoners, including Geronimo, held here beginning in 1886. The National Park Service describes their imprisonment at Fort Pickens as lasting about a year and a half. Check current access, entrance fees, and conditions before visiting.”
